Wow. I’ve been going to Vallarta since 1980, and actually moved there for 4 yrs, and never experienced this. You’re obviously not giving us the whole story. And you may have been hanging with the wrong people. Vallarta is a wonderful city that values tourists and tries to make sure they are safe, wherever they go. I’m considering moving back there.

If you are going to Puerto vallarta, you will be perfectly fine and safe. I just got back from there in February. Great people, great food, beautiful scenery. I stayed in Centro which isn’t even the nicest part of town and I still loved it. I will definitely be going back

Hotel Los Arcos in the Romantic Zone is very nice. Beachfront. Not overly expensive.
