British Airways To Restart Flights To China In Summer 2023

With plans to reestablish services from its London Heathrow hub to Shanghai and Beijing as part of its summer 2023 schedule, British Airways will resume flights between the UK and mainland China.

The UK airline will start operating daily flights on April 23 between London Heathrow and Shanghai Pudong International Airport, while four times weekly flights will start on June 3 to Beijing Daxing Airport.

Noella Ferns, the head of sales for Asia Pacific at British Airways, said: “We can’t wait to welcome our customers back on board our flights from Shanghai and Beijing. We have an incredibly rich history of flying to mainland China, having connected the two countries for more than 40 years.”

Following the relaxation of the nation’s rigorous zero-Covid policy last month, which signaled the end of travel restrictions and quarantine for arriving tourists, British Airways is the most recent carrier to announce its return to mainland China.

While Middle Eastern airlines Emirates and Etihad recently announced an increase in daily frequency to China, Virgin Atlantic on Thursday, February 2 announced plans to reinstate its service from Heathrow to Shanghai beginning on May 1.
